DARRYL PLUNKETT

for Irving City Council District 4

Fighting for the Heart of Irving

For the past 37 years, I've proudly called Irving my home, with the last 35 years being in District 4. When I first set foot in this vibrant city, the population was just over 100,000. Over the years, I've witnessed its growth, with the population now standing at almost 270,000, 156,000 of whom reside south of Highway 183.

I have stayed through the growth and changes because I love where I live and what it has become. I want to contribute to maintaining the area's culture while also spearheading initiatives that will bring new opportunities for growth.

My family is at the heart of my commitment to Irving. I've raised my children here, and both of them have attended the Irving Independent School District. They've not only received an excellent education but also developed a strong foundation for their future careers.

I have operated businesses in Irving for the last 25 years, including managing a branch for Guaranty Bank for 13 years and working as a financial advisor at Edward Jones for the past 12 years. These roles have given me a deep understanding of our local economy and the economic challenges and opportunities we face. This experience will be invaluable in making sound financial decisions for our district as a City Council member.

My wife, who has been an integral part of the Irving community, taught kindergarten for 25 years in the Irving ISD and is now back at Stipes Elementary as a tutor three days a week. Her dedication to our community and her impact on countless young lives has been a source of inspiration for me, and it is one of the reasons why I am running for City Council.

While living in the district, I have been active in the community in several ways:

• Current Vice Chairman – Constellation Club board of directors

• Board of Trustees - Oak Grove Memorial Gardens – 8 years

• Elementary Campus Improvement Committee

• Four years at Brandenburg Elementary

• Four years at Stipes Elementary

• Finance Chairman – Irving First Methodist Church – 3 years

• Chairman of the Church Council – Irving First Methodist Church

• Irving Arts Grant Committee – 2 years

• I have coached Little League baseball, softball, and soccer.

• I sing in the church choir and play drums for our praise team.
